It boasts affordable prices, stylish furnishings and home décor.

Perhaps most importantly, Ashley Furniture at Country Junction in Towamensing Township has grown the “World’s Largest General Store” to nearly its original size.

A grand opening is scheduled today at the 25,000-square-foot building along Route 209 in Forest Inn, complete with door busters; fun cards for the whole family — with the first 50 people in line receiving food and drinks — and a $1,000 drawing each hour from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Ashley is the manufacturer and designer of every product for bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, mattresses, and accessories, and is the largest importer of furniture and mattress store in America.

Taryn Burke, vice president of Ashley Furniture HomeStore for Country Junction, said that several giant kiosks are located throughout the store to meet the needs of customers.

“The store is beautiful; the designer here does a great job,” Burke said. “We’re glad we’re back in the area.”

Burke said that the locally owned, family-oriented Ashley Furniture store opened in June and has about a dozen employees.

“It’s been great, it’s been doing well,” she said. “The public is glad to see it back; it not only helps the locals, it also brings a lot of out-of-towners.”

The location had previously been a 150,000-square-foot building that was leveled by a devastating fire on Oct. 3, 2006.

After the fire — which resulted in a multimillion dollar loss — owner Jim Everett kept the store functioning by moving all operations to a large all-weather tent and various other structures.

A grand reopening was held at the store in 2010, when about 50,000 square feet was opened.

The new store was constructed on the site of the former store.

Ashley Furniture is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
