2018 holiday wish list for area nonprofit groups
As the holiday season nears, area groups are busy helping the less fortunate.

Tamaqua Adult Day Care Center
The Tamaqua Adult Day Care Center, located at 300 W. Broad St., Tamaqua, is in need of the following items:
Large and small paper plates, 8-ounce paper cups, napkins, tissues, paper towels, gallon size zip-close bags, adult coloring books, regular coloring books, word-search books in large print, colored markers and pencils, pens and No. 2 pencils.
Char-Wills German Shepherd Rescue
Char-Wills German Shepherd Rescue, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit at 2 E. Railroad Ave. in New Ringgold, takes in and rehomes German shepherds and has placed more than 150 dogs this year alone.
Items needed include:
• Martingale collars (large)
• Large Kong toys
• Laundry detergent
• High-quality dog food (such as Royal Canin, Taste of the Wild, Merrick)
• Gas cards
• Sturdy 6-foot leashes
• Pill pockets

St. Luke’s/The Summit Nursing Home and Rehab
The wish list for St. Luke’s/The Summit Nursing Home and Rehab residents/facility is Legos building blocks, Lincoln Logs, small CD players, CD with easy listening music, oldies, large print coloring books, and DVDs of all varieties (animals, comedies, etc.)

Turn To Us
Turn To Us is a local, grassroots 501c(3) organization that advocates for individuals and their families who are impacted by major and chronic illnesses by offering connection to resources and personalized assistance in a hopeful and compassionate environment. Assistance is at no cost to clients. Serving all of Carbon County, Coaldale and Tamaqua, services include financial assistance, gas gift cards, emotional support, connection to resources and wish granting.
Wish list: storage totes, envelopes, stamps, Boost and Ensure nutritional drinks, gift cards (fast food and gas), handmade holiday and “thinking of you” cards.

Socks for seniors
Socks for seniors is collecting new unwrapped items for area nursing homes for the holidays.
Items sought include: Adult socks — many request nonskid, soft tissues, back scratchers, personal care items, small hand sanitizers, garden gloves (great for wheelchair use), dial (liquid and solid), fashion scarves, snacks — small bags, hair brush/comb/barrettes/hair picks, body wash, men’s baseball caps, large-print puzzle books, costume jewelry, aftershave, nail polish/lipstick/chapstick, holiday decorations, or anything to make a senior’s holiday special.
The deadline is Dec. 8
