Lehighton posts wins in four sports

Lehighton gained wins in four different sports - boys and girls soccer, golf and volleyball - in scholastic action Monday.

Pleasant Valley also posted a pair of victories, winning in girls soccer and volleyball.


Lehighton-Jim Thorpe

Lehighton's Katie Aaron scored twice to help Lehighton win a Schuylkill League game over Jim Thorpe, 3-2.

Aubrey Blasiak added a score, while Thera Hibbler had an assist.

Lydia Wallace and Jackie Condly registered goals for Thorpe, while Brielle Long added an assist.

Julia Frey made 17 stops for the Indians, and Monae Bullock finished with 11 for the Olympians.

Pleasant Valley-Stroudsburg

Danielle DiMarco's goal was all Pleasant Valley needed to score a 1-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Stroudsburg.

The Bears' Brianna Clark was credited with the assist on DiMarco's second-half score.

Mikaela Miller (two saves) and Jennifer Whyte (three saves) combined for the shutout.

Pleasant Valley moves to 4-1 on the season.

Blue Mountain-Tamaqua

An Abree Lewis hat-trick helped spark Blue Mountain to a 6-0 Schuylkill League victory over Tamaqua.

The Blue Raiders' goalkeeper Flo Rios finished with 18 saves. Tamaqua slips to 1-2-1 on the season.


Nativity blanked Weatherly 8-0 in Schuylkill League action.

Camilla Cory led the Green Wave with a hat trick.


Pine Grove-Lehighton

Isaiah Everett's second-half goal was enough to lift Lehighton to a 1-0 Schuylkill League win over Pine Grove.

With 37:49 left in the second half, the Indians' Lucas Hoffner set up Everett for what turned out to be the game-winning goal.

The Indians' keeper Zach Andrews grabbed seven saves to preserve the shutout.

Northern Lehigh-Southern Lehigh

Southern Lehigh cruised to an 8-0 Colonial League win over Northern Lehigh.

The Spartans' Colin Hoff finished with a hat trick.


Weatherly edged Tri-Valley in a Schuylkill League contest, 1-0.

Josh Andruzzi scored in the 73rd minute for the Wreckers. AJ Knepper had six saves.


Northern Lehigh-Pen Argyl

Northern Lehigh scored a 2-0 Colonial League victory over Pen Argyl.

Amber Cieri scored a first-half goal for the Bulldogs, while Jada Mills added another in the second.

Madison Posivak and Olivia Romig both were credited with assists.


Bangor remained undefeated on the season with a 2-0 Colonial League win over Northwestern.

Carly Ammerman scored both Slaters' goals, while teammates Crystal Renaldi and Alyson Kiss were both credited with assists.

Taylor Page (five saves) and Alena Smargiassi (five saves) split duties in front of the Tigers' cage. Danielle Schmidt and Maya Hambrick also had defensive saves for NW.


Saylor Burke's two goals highlighted Palmerton's 3-0 Colonial League win over Palisades.

Burke finished with goals in each half, while Kailyn Kolnik posted a second-half goal. Kolnik was credited with the assist on Burke's first goal. Paige Frantz added an assist.

The Bombers' Taylor Hirochek had seven saves.



Tamaqua earned a 353-372 non-league win over Whitehall.

The Raiders' Carson Schoener carded a 78, while Whitehall's Patrick Skinner shot the same.

Palmerton-Moravian Academy- Bangor-Pen Argyl

Palmerton finished 1-2 in a Colonial League quad meet at Riverview Golf Course.

The Blue Bombers earned a 485-501 victory over Pen Argyl, while losing to both Moravian Academy (372-485) and Bangor (433-485).

Owen Reis led the Bombers with a low score of 92, while Logan Kresge followed with a 95.

The Lions' Juan Vidal grabbed medalist honors with a two-under-par score of 70.

Leanne Van Essendelft, Christy McLean and Kaitlyn O'Neill earned singles win for the Olympians.

With the win, Jim Thorpe improves to 4-3 on the season.

Isabelle Meckes paced the Indians with six kills and six aces, while Emily Haberman added 10 assists.

Sarah Bradley chipped in with four aces and two kills, while Emily Miller finished with four kills.

Lehighton improves to 4-1 on the season.

Mahanoy Area-Marian

Marian earned a Schuylkill League victory over Mahanoy Area, 25-14, 24-26, 25-19, 23-15.

Gianna Agosti paced the Fillies with 32 assists and two aces, while Jasmine Mooney followed suit with 17 kills and four aces.

Toni Galasso (11 digs, three aces) and Carly Kosciolek (10 kills) contributed in the win.


Northwestern posted a 25-10, 25-15, 25-16 non-league victory over Pottsville.

Ashley Bennicoff paced the Tigers with 11 digs, eight service points and six assists, while Sarah Sekerak finished with seven kills, six digs, four service points and two blocks.

Emily Corke had 13 digs for Northwestern.

Pleasant Valley-Allen

Pleasant Valley defeated Allen in three sets for a 25-5, 25-11, 25-14 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win.

Arianna Weaver led the Bears with seven assists, four kills and three aces, while Cameron Caffrey tallied 10 assists and two aces.

Katie Frankunas (four kills, two aces, two digs), Renee Mapa (four kills, three blocks) and Des Powell (six kills, three digs) all contributed in the victory.


Nativity swept Weatherly in a Schuylkill League match, 25-19, 25-18, 25-7.

Samantha Heenan had six digs, three assists, four aces, and six kills to lead Nativity.



Northwestern rolled past Tamaqua (2-1), 46-14.

Joey Coleman led the Raiders with 102 yards and a touchdown. Warren Stewart added 100 yards and a score on the ground.
