Alarm foils theft at gun shop

Police are investigating an attempted break-in at a gun shop in Orwigsburg.

Someone attempted to pry open the door at Shakey's Gun Shop, 202 E. Market St. in Orwigsburg, in the early morning hours of July 12.

According to State Police at Schuylkill Haven, around 4:25 a.m. four men were seen at the front door of the store. The men were wearing hooded sweatshirts and covered their faces.

One attempted to pry open the front door, but a burglar alarm sounded.

The men fled into what appeared to be a light-colored mid-2000s Ford Explorer, which was driven by a fifth unidentified person.

No further details were available.
