More freezing rain, snow, winds on the way

Published February 12. 2017 11:16AM
A winter weather advisory remains in effect. Snow and sleet accumulations of less than an inch are expected tonight with an additional 1 to 2 inches tonight. Ice accumulations of around one quarter of an inch are expected. Light freezing rain is expected late this afternoon and early this evening before transition to snow showers late this evening. Ice and snow accumulations will create treacherous driving conditions. The weight of the ice and snow on tree limbs and power lines could produce scattered outages. Gusts up to 60 mph are possible. The greatest potential for high winds will be late tonight through about midday Monday. The winds will gradually weaken Monday afternoon but strong gusts up to 50 mph are still possible. The weight of the ice from the freezing rain that is expected today will make these structures particularly susceptible to damage from the high winds. Numerous power outages are possible. Travel will likely be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
