"Already Gone," an exhibition by Patricia Satterlee, is currently showing at the Martin Art Gallery at Muhlenberg College, 2400 W. Chew St. in Allentown.

The exhibition features large format paintings in the Baker Center for the Arts Galleria. It runs through May 26.Works in this exhibition explore the balance between abstraction and representation, symmetry and irregularity. Satterlee's paintings are highly layered compositions, with each layer weaving together observation of physical objects and a sense of the energy within and around the objects. Her personalized set of enigmatic symbols become a sort of psychoanalytic search for meaning beyond the canvas through a sophisticated vocabulary that is at once both archaic and modern.Satterlee lives in Brooklyn, New York. She has shown at galleries throughout New York, in Washington and Paris.Martin Art Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. The Galleria space is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
