Nesquehoning church offers Thanksgiving meal

Thanksgiving week is officially underway and area churches are getting in the spirit by offering free meals to community members.

At Meeds United Methodist Church in Nesquehoning on Sunday, diners enjoyed plates of turkey, stuffing, corn, green beans, sweet and mashed potatoes, and other offerings.The church offers the Thanksgiving meal every year."We believe helping to feed people is part of the mission of the church," Pastor Kimberly Leskowich said. "They have been doing this here a very long time. So we try to help those who need it, but I also think people just come for the fellowship. They might not have a lot of opportunities to enjoy a meal with other people."A second seating is available at 5 p.m.The church is located at 126 W. Catawissa St.For more on the meal, check back to
