A Tamaqua man is facing charges after police say he hit two pedestrians Monday morning.

Tamaqua police said Steven Marsicano, 48, of 223 Lehigh St., Tamaqua, was driving on Lehigh Street shortly before 11 a.m. when his car struck a woman and a 2-year-old, who were crossing the street at the intersection of Rowe Street.

The victims were transported to a local hospital as a precaution, neither appearing to suffer serious injuries.

Marsicano told officers he didn't realize he had hit someone. He was transported to a local hospital for blood work after telling police he took "several different prescription pain medications."

Charges are pending.
