Gerry and Joe Van Uiter of Jim Thorpe recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married on Nov. 21, 1954, at St. Mark's Church in Brooklyn, New York, by the Rev. Lehey. They honeymooned at the Merry Hill Lodge in the Poconos.

Gerry is the daughter of the late Mary and Joseph Veltri of Brooklyn. Her husband is the son of the late Carlotta and Daniel Van Uiter, also of Brooklyn.They settled in Staten Island, New York, after Joe's tour of duty during the Korean conflict.They have two children: Stephanie, and her husband, Bill Oehm, of Monroe, New York, and Michael, and his wife, Bernardine Van Uiter, of Saylorsburg.They have three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.The Van Uiters were the guests of honor at a luncheon hosted by their children at The Bethlehem Hotel, which was attended by family and friends.
