Jim Thorpe police blocked off a section of North Street this morning after a downed power line was discovered. Police Chief Joseph Schatz said officers were dispatched to the 500 block of North Street at 5:56 a.m. A PPL crew arrived later arrived to fix the problem.

Thirty PPL customers in the borough remained out of power as of 9:30 a.m., according to the company's online outage center. It was not clear exactly where the outages were, or whether they were due to the downed line.

Police have yet to determine how the line fell. Schatz said the homeowner said the meter box had been pulled away from the wall.
