Older and bolder

The Salvation Army's Older and Bolder group will spring back into action on March 19, marking the beginning of the popular program's sixth year. Since its beginning in 2009, as a way for seniors to get together and discuss important topics, the program has grown and spun off additional programs, such as the Bell Choir, the Needlebugs Quilting group and Exerette gentle exercise.The regular Wednesday meetings are held from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Salvation Army, 105 W. Broad St., and include a light luncheon. The first meeting of the year will have an Irish/Green theme. Special guest speaker will be Tina Soley of Schuylkill Community Action.Emily Daly of AmeriHealth will present a program on elderly abuse at the March 26 meeting.For more information on the Older and Bolder group, or to join, call Dina at (570) 668-0410.TEPTOThe Tamaqua Elementary Parent Teacher Organization met Tuesday to discuss activities for the remainder of the 2013-2014 school year.Parents of the fifth-grade students will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Basile's Restaurant in Hometown.
