A Mahoning Township man is in jail after police found marijuana in his car during a traffic stop.

Mahoning Township police stopped a vehicle for speeding at 2:40 p.m. June 17 on Ashtown Drive and discovered a cache of marijuana.

After an officer detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, a search revealed a backpack filled with marijuana, a grinder, a box of plastic bags, and a scale.

Emilio Beckett, of Mahoning Township, the driver of the vehicle, has been charged with possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and exceeding the speed limit.

The marijuana has an estimated street value over $2,000.

Emilio was arraigned by District Judge Casimir Kosciolek, of Lansford, and taken to the Carbon County prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 2.
