The Summit Hill Planning Commission held a public meeting and accepted the proposed zoning ordinance and zoning map. They agreed to recommend them to borough council members for their consideration.

Steps of preparation included a base map, existing land use, land use plan and zoning plan with revised zoning ordinance.

The planners worked on it for a year. Lentz Trail, Mauch Chunk Lake, the borough watershed, and the Panther Valley High School area are protected by zoning these areas as open space.
