Schuylkill standoff ends with arrest of two men
A standoff in the Schuylkill County borough of Frackville ended early Thursday morning with the arrest of two men.
State police at Frackville said troopers went to the residence at 29 S. Fourth St. about 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday to serve a warrant for Steven L. Androshick, 49, who they learned resided at the home. During that attempt further information was obtained that Harry R. Baney, 28, was residing in the home with Androshick. Baney also had warrants for his arrest.
Androshick had active bench warrants issued by the county court for failing to appear in court to answer charges of making false alarms to law enforcement agencies and felony forgery charges. Baney was wanted on a felony warrant for aggravated assault after resisting arrest and fleeing from Saint Clair police when they attempted to apprehend him for retail theft at the Walmart store in the borough earlier in the month.
Androshick and Baney would not answer the door.
Troopers then called a state police Special Emergency Response Team to the scene. The home was surrounded by police.
The two men, after negotiation, surrendered about 12:45 a.m. Both were placed in the county prison in Pottsville on the outstanding warrants. Other charges may be filed.
Assisting Frackville troopers, in addition to the SERT unit, were troopers from the Schuylkill Haven barracks and local police from Frackville, West Mahanoy Township, Butler Township, and Saint Clair. No one was injured in the incident.
