Lansford police arrest one robbery suspect

Lansford police have arrested one of the two Coaldale men they believe robbed resident George Becker on Thursday.

Christopher Keer, 24, of 23 W. Ruddle St., was taken into custody Thursday night and is being held under $75,000 straight bail.

Police are still searching for Joseph Becker of 208 E. High St.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Brian Horos, George Becker came into the police station and said he had been robbed.

George Becker said he was standing outside a building he owns at 200 W. Bertsch St. in the borough when he saw Christopher Keer across the street. He crossed the street and asked Keer where the Hess trucks he had stolen from him were.

At that point, Joseph Becker caught George Becker in a bear-hug hold from behind, making it hard for the victim to breathe.

The relationship between George Becker and Joseph Becker was not clear.

Keer then took George Becker's wallet from his back pocket.

George Becker showed Horos his ripped pocket, which hung by a thread from the back of his pants.

Becker told Horos he had $1,475 in his wallet. It included $650 in rent money he had just collected from one apartment and $375 from another. He also had $450 from work he had done.

Joseph Becker on Feb. 27 entered a home at 313 W. Water St. in Lansford, allegedly looking for a man named "Cody."

In that incident, Becker was accompanied by Brian Kehl of Summit Hill. The two held a 16-year-old until the boy's grandfather, who lives next door, brandished a handgun at them.

Anyone who sees Becker is asked to call Lansford police at 570-645-5844.
