Slatington Police continue to investigate an incident in which an elderly woman was injured over the weekend at a Laundromat in the borough in what is believed to be an attempted robbery.

Contacted Tuesday afternoon, Slatington Borough Police Chief David Rachman said that police received a call at 6:45 p.m. July 20 that said an elderly woman was found lying on the floor inside Horner's Laundromat, at 592 Main St.

Rachman said police were dispatched to the Laundromat, at which time it appeared the woman received a head injury, and was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, where she has since been treated and released.

The victim, whose name Rachman declined to release, is 80 years old, and resides in Slatington.

"We do believe this to be a robbery," Rachman said. "We got some fresh information today that really is pushing it forward."

Rachman added, "We're following leads and working on it. It does not appear to be a random incident."

He said the case remains under investigation. Anyone with information may contact Slatington Police at 610-767-1846.
