Tamaqua driver victim of hit-and-run

Published July 16. 2014 04:00PM

A Tamaqua driver was the victim of a hit-and-run in Luzerne County.

State police at Hazleton said Diane Pupko told troopers her 2011 Mazda 3 was struck in the rear by a Honda about 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday along Walmart Drive and Airport Road in Hazle Township.

She said a Hispanic male was operating the 1996 Honda and struck her vehicle. He did not provide information after the collision and fled the scene. Pupko was able to provide a registration number from the Honda and it came back as registered to Juan Soler-Abreu, of Wyoming Street in Hazleton.

Troopers said a check of the address listed on the registration was completed but the vehicle in question was not located.

Troopers noted that Pupko's vehicle sustained significant rear-end damage but she was not injured.

The investigation into the incident is continuing.
