SHAMOKIN, Pa. (AP) An ailing Vietnam veteran from northeastern Pennsylvania says he's shocked someone could do something so low.

Police in Coal Township are investigating the theft of 70-year-old Martin Glover's wheelchair from in front of his home on Monday.

Glover had had his left leg amputated four years ago. The wheelchair theft occurred when he was at the hospital preparing for surgery to remove one of his toes.

He says he suffers from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, Parkinson's disease and has a weak heart.

Glover says he has no idea why someone would want to steal his wheelchair.

The local Veterans Affairs Medical Center has promised to replace it.
