A Monroe County woman is facing theft and related counts following an incident that occurred at Joe's Kwik Mart service station located along Route 940 in Pocono Summit.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said on Monday, Jan. 6, officers responded to the business for a report of a theft incident. Area managers of the ownership conducted a financial audit based on suspicious activity concerning deposits of store charge accounts.

A further investigation indicated the store manager, Kristen Kopp, 25, of Stroudsburg, was altering paperwork and deposits to allegedly steal money.

The amount reported to be taken was $10,523.99 and the "skimming" began in early December 2013, police said.

Kopp was charged with a felony count of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. She was arraigned before District Judge Richard S. Claypool, of Pocono Pines, and released on unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m.
