Rush Township police investigated two accidents on Saturday.

Thomas P. Betzler, 20, of Easton, was traveling north on Marian Avenue at 1:35 a.m. when he lost control of the Hyundai he was driving. The car struck a fence owned by Air Products and Chemicals.

A passenger in the car, Ryan Schweitzer, 20, of Hometown, suffered minor injuries.

The Hyundai had to be towed from the scene.

Betzler told police he swerved to avoid a deer.

At 10:47 a.m., Kera Rodgers, 60, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet, traveling east on Fairview Street, when she lost control of her car. The Chevrolet sheared a utility pole in half, but Rodgers sustained only minor injuries.
