The Hyundai had to be towed from the scene.

Betzler told police he swerved to avoid a deer.

At 10:47 a.m., Kera Rodgers, 60, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet, traveling east on Fairview Street, when she lost control of her car. The Chevrolet sheared a utility pole in half, but Rodgers sustained only minor injuries.
