Published January 21. 2014 07:12AM

Two teens were injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 6:07 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19, along SR25 in Hegins Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said a 17-year-old female from Hegins was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt westbound and negotiating a left curve when she overcompensated around the curve and entered the eastbound lane. She then overcorrected and went back into the westbound lane and onto the berm where the car struck the base of a tree with the front end. The car then rolled over three times striking two boulders, a PennDOT sign, and a drainage grate before coming to rest on the berm.

The teen had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to the Hershey Medical Center. A passenger, Ashley M. Hornberger, 19, of Hegins, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville.

Troopers also reported investigating a one-vehicle crash about 6:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, along Brookside Road, in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Michael A. Puglia, 58, of Pine Grove, was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram truck southbound and entered a right curve. He lost control of the truck on a patch of ice, troopers said.

The truck went onto the berm and continued for a distance before striking a tree.

Puglia was not injured but the truck had to be towed from the scene.
