Graduates from St. Luke's nursing program
Kelsey Louise Burkett, daughter of Brenda and Dr. Richard Martin of North-ampton, and Kimberlee and Gerald Burkett of Tamaqua, graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing on Dec. 12. She received her diploma in nursing and was pinned by her mother, Brenda, who is an alumnus of the program.
She received the Julia S. Ritter Award, which was a monetary gift to the graduate who demonstrated abilities in utilizing the principles of the natural sciences in the nursing process. While a student at St. Luke's she served as treasurer of the Student Government Association. She attended the Student Nurses Association conference in North Carolina and served as a representative of the SNA.
She will be sitting for her board certification in January and has matriculated into the RN to BSN program at Misericordia University, Dallas, and plans to start her career as a registered nurse while continuing her education.
