Carbon County Labor Chapter meeting date changed

The Carbon County Labor Chapter will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at the Democratic Information Center at 110 S. First St. in Lehighton, at the corner of First and South streets. The Thursday meeting is a change for the organization. The labor chapter's new meeting date will be the third Thursday of each month. The chapter meets every month of the year.

President Terry Whiteman said, "This meeting date will be more convenient for members who have conflicts with our old Monday meeting date and we will be able to avoid meeting on a number of holidays." The Thursday meeting will focus on the strategic plan for the organization and in particular "public outreach and education."One of the aims of the labor chapter is to inform the public about the history of the labor movement in Carbon County.The Chapter sponsored and marched with the Patchtown Players in a salute to the Molly Maguires in the recent Jim Thorpe St. Patrick's Day parade.Members of labor unions, both active and retired, as well as "friends of labor" are welcome to chapter meetings. The chapter serves the Carbon County and Hazleton area.
