Schuylkill driver facing charges

Published January 16. 2014 09:19AM

A Schuylkill County driver is facing charges after police said he crashed his vehicle and then fled the scene.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Todd A. Hoke, 34, Pine Grove, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt westbound on Oak Grove Road in Pine Grove Township, about 7:18 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, when he lost control while negotiating a slight right curve.

The car started to spin counter-clockwise with its rear end going onto the berm. The car continued to travel about 70 feet in a westerly direction along the side of the road before hitting a utility pole with its rear end.

After impact with the pole the car spun clockwise back onto the road facing west.

Troopers said Hoke then continued on without notifying anyone of the accident. Troopers were able to identify Hoke's vehicle because the registration plate was left at the scene.

Hoke is facing charges of driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed, accidents involving damage to unattended property, and immediate notice of accident to police.

Hoke was not injured in the crash.
