Towamensing Township reorganizes for 2014

On Monday Towamensing Township Supervisors met to reorganize for 2014.

Penny Kleintop returned as chairman of the supervisors with Tom Newman as vice chairman.

The road master is Scott Mosier with Phill Costenbader as his assistant.

Lora Nothstein continues as secretary with Kleintop as treasurer. The treasurer's bond is for $550,000. Brenda Drew is the office clerk.

Tom Nanovic of Nanovic Law Offices will continue as the solicitor.

Carl Faust was named as zoning officer. He also has the positions of Uniform Building Code officer and Uniform Building Code inspector. Jim Melborn is the assistant inspector.

Carbon Engineering will be the engineers with Greg Haas serving as the person working with Towamensing.

Richard Workman serves on the vacancy board.

Sean Corey is sewage enforcement officer with Scott Bieber as alternate.

The emergency management officer is Newman.

Jennie Chang is solicitor for the zoning hearing board. Its members are Don Bonett, George Karas and William Acierno with Carl Pielmeier as an alternate. A second alternate is being sought.

The planning commission secretary will be Brenda Drew with Jennie Chang as planning commission solicitor. Drew will also be the open records officer.

Elected auditors are Eva Dugan, Julia Costello and Mildred Leaman.

The joint board of appeals representative will be Haas.

The mileage rate for use of a private car for township business will be .56 cents a mile.

Mosier and Nothstein were named as delegates to the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors convention with Mosier as the voting delegate.

Supervisors' meetings will be held the first Thursday of each month starting at 7 p.m. The planning commission will meet the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. Recreation will meet April 17 and Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. with participation by representatives of soccer, softball and Supervisor Newman.

The Towamensing Township Historical Commission meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.

Approval was given for events scheduled by the Towamensing Fire Company.
