Two people were injured in a crash that happened at 5:40 p.m. Dec. 1 on Route 903 in Penn Forest Township.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said Andrew A. Adorno, 44, of Albrightsville, sustained major injuries and Lorraine A. Wing, 52, of Jim Thorpe, received minor injuries.

Police said the accident happened near Maury Road. Police said Adorno was driving a 1995 Saab 900 SE southbound and was approaching Maury Road when it turned onto the latter road without clearance and was struck by a 2013 Jeep Latitude operated by Wing. The latter was northbound on Route 903 at the time.

Police said the Saab spun counter-clockwise and came to rest facing south about 25 feet Route 903. The jeep spun clockwise and struck a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation sign and fence post before coming to rest facing southeast on the south lane of travel.

Police said both victims were transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for treatment of multiple injuries. The Lehighton ALS unit assisted at the scene.

Police said Adorno was cited for "vehicle turning left," a traffic citation.
