Injuries averted in two-vehicle crash

No one was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 4:26 p.m. Dec. 11 at the intersection of Route 534 and Dotter's Corner Road in Polk Township.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Barry l. Schaffer, 68, of Kunkletown, was traveling north on Route 534 and turning left onto Dotter's Corner Road when it was struck by a 1990 Honda Civic operated by Piotr Dubicki, 39, also of Kunkletown. The latter was traveling south on Route 534 at the time.

After the impact, the Silverado came to rest facing west on the southern shoulder of Dotter's Corner Road while the Honda came to rest facing south in the southbound lane of Route 534.

Police said the Honda sustained disabling damages to its front end and was towed from the scene. The Silverado was damaged on its front, as well as the passenger side tire.
