Car hits pole when driver falls asleep

Dena B. Due, 30, of Emmaus, escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash at 12:50 a.m. Dec. 8 on Interchange Road in Polk Township.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said she was driving a 1993 Chrysler New Yorker on Route 209 when it drifted off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole head-on, continuing to hit a speed limit sign before coming to a final halt just off the roadway.

Police said she told police she fell asleep at the wheel prior to the impact.

She will be cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
