Drunk passenger arrested in Carbon

Published January 03. 2014 08:50AM

Robert Wayne Moyer, 45, of Lehighton, has been arrested by state police at the Lehighton barracks on a charge of resisting arrest.

The charge stems from an incident at 9:02 p.m. Nov. 29 on Route 209, in the area of the Shell gas station in Towamensing Township.

Police said they made a traffic stop at that time and learned the driver was determined to be safe to operate a vehicle due to him not being intoxicated. Police said he was instructed he was free to leave.

But before he did, Moyer, a passenger in the vehicle, exited the car and approached a trooper in a combative, drunk and persistently disorderly manner. Police said after he failed to comply to multiple orders to return to the vehicle, Moyer was placed under arrest, at which time he resisted the officer's attempt to place him in custody.
