Tamaqua driver cited after crash

A Tamaqua driver was cited following a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 10:42 a.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of Route 54 and Main Street in Mahanoy Township.

State police at Frackville said Nichole Baer, 29, attempted to pull out from a stop sign at the intersection and pulled into the path of a vehicle operated by Eva-Marie V. Jones, 35, of Mahanoy City.

The front of Jones’ 2012 Volkswagen Jetta hit the front end of Baer’s 1996 Ford Explorer.

Both vehicles came to rest facing west against the guide rail along the south berm.

Baer and her passenger, Bradley S. Warnick Sr., 35, also of Tamaqua, were injured and taken to St. Luke’s Miners Campus in Coaldale, by Ryan Township ambulance. Jones also was injured, but refused medical attention at the scene.

Both vehicle sustained heavy front end damage and were towed from the scene.

Troopers said Baer will receive several citations including duties at stop signs, driving with a suspended license and for having no insurance on her vehicle.
