State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating two crashes on Schuylkill County roads on Friday, Feb. 21.

A one-vehicle crash occurred about 3:02 p.m. along Gold Mine Road in Tremont Township. Troopers said Grace E. Barna, 55, of Lebanon, was driving a 2001 Ford Escape northbound and negotiating a left downhill curve.

The car crossed over the fog line and continued on the gravel berm for about 250 feet. Barna then overcorrected back toward the center of the road, causing the car to spin 90 degrees counter-clockwise.

The car then crossed over both lanes of travel and struck a snow bank along the berm with the front end. The car continued along the snow bank for about 25 feet before coming to rest in the southbound lane.

Barna was injured and treated at the scene by emergency personnel from the Tower City ambulance. The car was towed from the scene.

Troopers cited Barna for driving on roadways laned for traffic.

The second crash occurred about 3:59 p.m. along Route 209 in Reilly Township. Troopers said John R. Koch, 65, of Pottsville, was operating a 2010 Ford F150 pickup truck northbound and was stopped for a school bus that was discharging students.

Wendy R. Campbell, 60, of Orwigsburg, driving a 2007 Nissan Sentra, was northbound and approaching the crest of a hill. She came over the hill and observed the pickup truck stopped in front of her.

She applied her brakes but was unable to stop in time, with the front of her vehicle hitting the rear of the pickup truck.

Campbell, Koch, and his passenger, Robert Boardman, were not injured, but another passenger, June Koch, 65, sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene.

The Nissan was towed from the scene.
