State police at the Lehighton barracks reported they were summoned to the scene of a one-vehicle crash at 4 p.m. Feb. 1 on the Forest Inn Road in Towamensing Township and determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Police did not reveal the name of the driver of the 2005 Ford F150, but said the collision occurred as the subject swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway and then ended up hitting some trees west of the southbound lane.Police said the driver was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was transported to an area hospital for a blood test, the results of which are pending.
