New Ringgold man crashes SUV

A New Ringgold man escaped serious injury following a one-vehicle crash in Summit Hill over the weekend.

According to Summit Hill Police Chief Joseph Fittos, John Bieniek, 47, of 41 Schuylkill Road, was traveling east along East White Bear Drive in the borough just after 7 a.m. Saturday when he allegedly fell asleep at the wheel.Bieniek's vehicle, a 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe, went off the roadway, snapping a telephone utility pole and striking a tree.Bieniek said he was not injured.The Tahoe was towed from the scene by Krajcirik's Automotive and Towing in Lansford.Fittos said charges are pending the results of the investigation.
