Schuylkill man jailed for taking, eating pain patch
A Schuylkill County man was jailed this week after he took a pain patch from a resident at the Schuylkill County home for the elderly, and eating it.
State police at Schuylkill Haven identified the suspect as Anthony Hessler, 26, of Palo Alto.
Troopers said the incident occurred between noon and 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Rest Haven home in North Manheim Township, just outside Schuylkill Haven.
Troopers said Hessler took Barbara Krier, 66, of Schuylkill Haven, a resident at the home, for a walk. While on the walk Hessler told Krier that he was going to take her 75 mcg Duragesic patch off her back. Krier refused.
Hessler then took the patch from Krier and ate it.
He was arrested by troopers on a charge of robbery and related offenses and arraigned before District Judge James Ferrier, of Orwigsburg.
He was committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $1,000 straight cash bail.
