A Stroudsburg driver was killed and his teenage cousin injured following a one-vehicle crash Friday morning along Route 715 Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.
Michal Kobylinski, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene just after 8 a.m., according to Monroe County Coroner Bob Allen.
Kobylinski was reportedly traveling northbound on Route 715, just south of Effort Neola Road, at 7:27 a.m. when his 2006 Nissan 350Z lost control around a curve. According to a witness, the Nissan went into the southbound lane when Kobylinski overcorrected, sending the vehicle up the northbound berm and into a tree.
"The witness said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed," Allen said.
Kobylinski's 18-year-old cousin, Chris Szymanski, of New York, was a passenger in the Nissan. Szymanski was transported to Pocono Medical Center for treatment.
"Chris indicated to me that they had several drinks prior to the accident," Allen said.
State police at Fern Ridge, West End Ambulance and West End Fire Company responded to the scene.
