Smell camefrom train, not from hazardous waste

Published September 30. 2013 05:00PM

A smell in the area of the by-pass (Route 209) in Lehighton that caused detours early Sunday morning around 2 a.m. was not a hazardous waste spill as originally thought.

Mark Nalesnik, Emergency Management coordinator, confirmed this morning that the smell came from a motor on a train.

Lehighton Ambulance and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene between the by-pass and the Packerton Dip after it was suspected a hazardous spill might have occurred.
