Published September 30. 2013 05:00PM

A Cumberland County man and his daughter were killed in a one vehicle crash on Saturday along Intestate 81 in Schuylkill County. State police at Frackville said the crash occurred about 10:50 a.m. in the Butler Township.

Troopers identified the victims as Alberto Hernandez, 42, and his 11 month old daughter, Anastacia Marie-Carman Hernandez, both of Mechanicsburg.

Troopers said Hernandez was operating a 2007 Suzuki Forenza northbound when he lost control of the vehicle. The Forenza went onto the west berm and struck a tree.

The vehicle then rolled over onto its roof where it came to rest in the median facing east.

Troopers said the girl was properly restrained in a car seat on the right rear side of the vehicle. Hernandez was not wearing a seat belt.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene by county deputy coroner Andrew Szczyglak of Shenandoah.

Troopers said several motorists, including a physician, stopped at the scene and rendered aid to the victims.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by fire companies from Englewood and Altamont in Frackville, Minersville and Pottsville, and ambulances from Frackville and Shenandoah.
