Arrest warrant issued for Lansford woman
Lansford police have issued a felony warrant for Alexis Goldberg, 23, of 254 3rd St., Coaldale, as a result of an incident which took place on Aug. 14 at Boyer's Market. Goldberg is charged with retail theft.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact police at (570) 645-5844.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, at about 12:30 p.m. that afternoon, Lansford Officer Brian Horos was called to Boyer's Market for a retail theft.
When he arrived, Goldberg was sitting on a bench outside the store, with four children. The store manager was nearby and told Horos that Goldberg had allegedly stolen a $1.27 pack of Trident Layers gum by concealing it on her person and attempting to leave the store with it.
Goldberg allegedly tried to ditch the item when she was confronted.
Horos spoke with Goldberg, whom he identified by her identification document. She denied trying to steal the gum. She also vehemently denied ever having been caught stealing before. He asked her if she was on any type of probation, and she said she was not.
Because Goldberg had four children with her, Horos was unable to transport them all. He decided to collect her information and let her leave from the store.
He went to the police station, ran her information, and learned that there was a probation warrant out on her from Schuylkill County. He also learned that she had been convicted three times for retail theft.
