An elderly Schuylkill County woman was killed in a two vehicle crash on Tuesday when she pulled out in front of another vehicle.

State police at Frackville identified the victim as Edith Lescavage, 78, of Minersville. The crash occurred about 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of SR61 and Darkwater Road, in New Castle Township.

Troopers said Lescavage, operating a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am, was attempting to turn onto 61 from Darkwater Road when she pulled into the path of a 2010 Nissan Frontier truck operated by Vicki Hesse, 43, of Port Carbon, who was southbound.

The front of the Nissan hit the Pontiac broadside on the drivers' side. After impact the Pontiac spun about 45-degrees and came to rest facing southeast. The Nissan came to rest facing south still in contact with the Pontiac.

Lescavage was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hesse and a passenger with Lescavage, Florence Doyle, 80, of Minersville, were injured and taken to Pottsville hospitals for treatment. The extent of their injuries are unknown at this time, troopers added.

The investigation into the crash is continuing.
