Splash water park plans

Blue Mountain Resort will soon unveil its new entrance for the Ski Area and Summit Splash Water Park.

A gathering of public figures and other honored guests to celebrate the completion of its new entrance with a ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.The ceremony marks the completion of the new road, as well as the beginning of Blue Mountain's largest construction project, Summit Splash Water Park.Both of the owners of Blue Mountain, Barbara Green and Bruce Ebert, as well as senior management from Blue Mountain Resort, will attend.Green, president of Blue Mountain Resort, said "This expansion is just the next step in our four-season growth strategy."The opening of the entrance is the first step toward opening the park in the spring of 2015.The idea for the water park began two years ago, when Green envisioned expanding the resort to a year-round facility."We are excited about the possibility of creating over 200 full-time jobs," she said, "and supporting Carbon County with jobs and recreation."Heidi Lutz, director of sales and marketing, said "The opening of this new entrance is a milestone in the history of Blue Mountain Resort.""For more than three decades, guests have come to Blue Mountain for the best skiing in Pennsylvania," Lutz said.
