A Slatington home sustained minor damage after a dwelling fire broke out Monday morning.

The Slatington Fire Department responded to 862 Main St. at about 11:16 a.m. as smoke was coming from the roof of the porch.

Borough Fire Chief Keith Weaver said the homeowner was using a heat gun to strip paint from the roof of the porch when the fire broke out.

Weaver said the fire was contained within a three-foot area, and resulted in minimum water damage. No injuries were reported, he said.

Also assisting at the scene were the Slatington Police Department, Diamond Fire Company of Walnutport and the Palmerton Fire Department.
