Driver facing DUI count after crash

A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following a one-vehicle crash.

Pocono Mountain Regional police responded to a reported crash at 2:56 a.m. Sunday, April 20, along Route 940 at Wagner Road in Pocono Lake. On scene, officers learned that a vehicle had left the road and severed a telephone pole.The driver was identified as Zachary A. Contopidis, 23, of Tobyhanna. Contopidis showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. He was then placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and taken for a blood test.Police said it appeared that speed contributed to the crash. Contopidis was charged with numerous traffic violations with the DUI charge pending the blood test results.
