Results of checkpoints

The North Central Pa. Regional Sobriety Checkpoint DUI Taskforce and Expanded DUI/Underage Drinking Enforcement Program has released the following information from a recent Roving DUI patrol.

The roving patrol was conducted on Aug. 31 and resulted in officers detaining 32 vehicles. Three drivers were tested and arrested, suspected of driving under the influence. Officers issued 23 traffic and two seat belt citations; made 1 criminal arrest; and issued 14 warnings. Four departments, represented by four officers, participated in the patrol.

Travelers are reminded to dial 911 if they suspect a drunken driver.

The sobriety checkpoints and Roving DUI patrols are funded through the state Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
