Charged with forging checks totaling $11,450

Mahoning Township Police Department received a bad check complaint from National Penn Bank on SR443.

Police said thier investigation showed that between June 21-23, the defendant, Joanna Sue Nunemacher of Summit Hill, had forged her ex-husbands signature on four checks.

Police said she then deposited the checks totaling $11,450.00 into her account at the Lehighton Branch of National Penn Bank.

The checks were written from a closed joint account with her ex husband, according to police.

The deposits caused National Penn Bank a financial loss of $3,313.13.

In an interview with police, Joanna reportedly admitted signing her ex-husbands name without his knowledge. She also admitted knowing there were no funds available for the deposited checks.

Joanna has been charged with forgery, a felony; theft by deception, a felony, and bad checks, a misdemeanor.
