An inferno

Emergency personnel were called to the 100 block of Mahanoy Avenue, SR54, in Hometown around 10:30 last night for a car on fire. The incident, which was located on the opposite side of the road from the Hometown Farmers Market, involved a Volkswagen Beetle owned by Diane Popnick of Barnesville. Rush Township Police report that no one was injured. Traffic was detoured around the scene during the incident and cleanup. Responding in addition to police were Hometown Fire Police, Hometown Fire Company, Quakake Fire Company and Tamaqua Ambulance.
