9/11 remembrance service planned in Lehighton Park

LIFE (Lehighton Interfaith Fellowship) will hold a 9/11 remembrance service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the Lehighton Park Amphitheater.

The Rev. Anthony P. Pagotto, pastor of Dinkey Memorial Lutheran Church, East Penn Township; will be the keynote speaker.

Also participating are the Rev. Michael McGowan, Ben Salem United Church of Christ, East Penn Township; William Lester and Shirley Stamm of First Presbyterian Church, Lehighton; the Rev. Kenneth Ogden, pastor at Peoples Evangelical Congregational Church, Franklin Township; Rose Marie Austin, Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Lehighton; Shirley Radler, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lehighton; and Barry Shupp, Zion United Church of Christ, Lehighton.

Music will be provided by Robert Fatzinger on the keyboard and a choir.

Everyone is asked to bring a candle that will be lit at the designated time in the service.

In case of inclement weather, the service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Third and Mahoning Streets, Lehighton.

The planning committee consisted of representatives from All Saints Episcopal Church, Mary Fay Levendusky; First Presbyterian Church, Shirley Stamm; St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Robert Fatzinger; Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Rose Marie Austin and Trinity Evangelical. Lutheran Church, Shirley Radler.
