Two men have been charged with theft and related counts involving a shopping cart.

Jim Thorpe police said on July 9 about 2:29 p.m. they observed Carlos Luis Pagan Jr., 19, of 502 Center St., Apt. 4, Jim Thorpe, and Chad Mack, 24, of 3820 Forest Inn Road, Aquashicola, carrying a green shopping cart up the sidewalk/steps between River and E. Front streets.

When asked what they were doing with the cart, Pagan informed police he was taking it home. They were then asked if they had permission to take the cart, and both responded in the negative.

While speaking with the two Marion Pasdon, owner of the Jim Thorpe Market, arrived on scene and told police that workers from the market informed her that two males walked away from the store with a cart, which is valued at $150.

As a result Pagan and Mack were both charged with misdemeanor counts of theft by unlawful taking or disposition, criminal conspiracy to commit theft, and receiving stolen property.
