Pump house generator could cost over $115,000

It could cost Palmerton over $115,000 to purchase an emergency generator for its Sixth Street pump house.

Five companies submitted bids to the borough's Municipal Authority on Tuesday, with J. B. Electric Corp. of Minersville, turning in the apparent low bid of $115,550.That proposal was $450 less than the next lowest bid of $116,000 submitted by F.J. Lesher General Contractor, Palmerton.Other companies that bid were Albarell Electric, Inc. of Bethlehem ($122,000); Thomas Hoffman Co. Inc, of Allentown ($127,836); and Wind Gap Electric, Inc. of Wind Gap ($154,000).Borough Manager Rodger Danielson said the bids will be reviewed and sent to the Municipal Authority, with action to be taken at a later date.Whomever is awarded the contract will be in charge of its installation, as well as associated site improvements.Danielson said the project will be paid for from out of Municipal Authority funds.
