Cited after Mahoning crash

On Monday, Mahoning Township Police investigated a rollover crash. Police said Tyler Mueller, 19, of Lehighton said he was driving north when a deer ran out in front of him causing the crash. An off-duty police officer was hunting in the area at the time and he reported that Mueller had been traveling south a short time before the crash occurred. Police said Mueller then admitted that he had made up the story about the deer. The investigation showed he had been traveling at an excessive speed, spinning out/fishtailing on the gravel roadway, causing him to lose control. Mueller then hit the embankment on the shoulder causing the vehicle to overturn. Mueller was cited for careless driving, driving vehicle at safe speed, and notice of change of name or address.
