Veteran upset overstolen flag

Published October 24. 2013 05:00PM

A veteran is speaking out about the theft of an American flag in Jim Thorpe.

The theft occurred at Flagstaff Mountain sometime over the weekend, according to Francis C. O'Donnell, a 62-year member of the American Legion. He added that the owner of the property, Tim Markley, brought it to his attention.

"You have to be pretty desperate to steal a flag," O'Donnell said.

The flag that was stolen was dedicated to all past, present and future veterans, as well as the servicemen and women who didn't make it back to American soil.

Jim Thorpe Police Chief Joseph Schatz said this morning that he had not heard about the theft until now.
